About Us
The Full Story
Most forgotten and vanishing Kids we are in the midst of thick jungles, mountains, and rivers in the Chhattisgarh State of India near Balrampur district. Our pioneers are the Jesuit fathers who established us 30 years back through education, health care service, non-formal education, and skill training programmes and taught us to stand still for our identity and entitlements. We are least and lost but we count ourselves one among millions in the galaxy without which the whole milky way is incomplete. We have dreams to catch the sky through our little talents and efforts.

Fr. Sidon Maes was a missionary with compassionate love for the poorest of the poor, the Kodakus. He founded Khamhar and Dhanwar in 1994 mission stations. He sacrificed his entire life for the poor and very specially the Kodakus. He breathed his last uttering “look after the children well” as an expression of his concern for the Kodakus. His grave at Dhanwar keeps him alive among us and it remains a constant reminder of his burning love for the Kodakus. The Koraku mission at Dhanwar keeps growing because of his prayerful support from heaven.
We would like to continue the legacy of Fr. Maes as far as the Kodaku mission is concerned. Therefore we commit ourselves along with our collaborators; the St. Anne Sisters of Kolkata and lay people to keep the flag up. No doubt the mission has made a concrete progress and result is quite encouraging in spite of many ups and downs in our way. The Jesuit spirit of Magis and excellence keeps us challenging to face the hurdles boldly and never to look back.

EVENTS
Socio-Cultural Formation: Along with intellectual formation, socio-cultural formation is also equally important in the school. Children are given an opportunity to bring colours into their school life through various cultural programmes. Recently the Koraku children of the school were invited to perform a Sondo dance on the occasion of the birth anniversary of a tribal leader Birsa Munda on the 15th of November. This programme was organized by the Sarva Adivasi Samaj, Surguja Ambikapur in the presence of the Governor of the State Ms Anusuia Oike. This special invitation and preference were given to the Koraku students to promote their cultural heritage. Sr. Josline, Sr. Tina and Fr. Pramod accompanied twenty students for the programme. The students gave a mind-blowing performance and mesmerized the minds of the viewers. Their participation was well appreciated by all
The Feast of St. Monica, the Patron St. of the Catholic Mothers
The feast of St. Monica also known as Mother's day was celebrated here at Dhanwarkala on 28 August with great joy and happiness. Mothers were given special respect by the children and the men folk present here. A special prayer service was done in their honour for their wellbeing, happiness, and good health. They were also given a special felicitation thereafter. On behalf of WeKidss, we thank all mothers for their dedicated service and innumerable sacrifices for our well-being and wish them all the best in all their endeavors.
Distribution of Fruit juice to the poor children
Dhanwar mission is grateful to the CDO –Conference Development Office Delhi for sponsoring some fruit squash for the children and the sick villagers. It is being provided to the children in the hostel in and in the villages as well on various occasions. This small gesture of charity and love to the children is again opening the eyes of the people towards the care the mission is rendering to various groups of people. This is being appreciated by the local people and the local government as well
Bhaiyathan Visit: On September 4th, 2024, we visited Bhiyathan School and were deeply touched by the inspiring study atmosphere under the guidance of Fr. Pascal. The campus exudes discipline and motivation, and students are fully engaged in their learning. Fr Pascal's commitment to the holistic development of his students is evident throughout the school. Our visit, accompanied by Frs. Amrit, Emil, Bipin and Rajesh, was a memorable and uplifting experience thanks to the dedication of both staff and students.
The beautiful smiles of our children radiate a pure, untainted joy that transcends their hardships. Despite their struggles, their faces reflect innocence, resilience, and a heart full of hope. Their laughter is a reminder that happiness isn’t found in material wealth, but in the simple, precious moments of life.
